In United States October is National Disability Awareness Month.
Having had the opportunity to serve on the local Disabilities Services Board (DSB) alongside lovely people, with their unchosen inability, has not only been informational but indeed a trans-formative experience.
At the time, living in my self created world of doubts, ineptness, wishing, hoping, dreaming, praying, I was looking for some direction – the road suitable for me. Participating in those meetings & closely witnessing the passionate selfless drive & dedication of these new friends with smiles on, contributing their ideas, energy, and their time towards making the world a better place for all helped me realize that I had indeed entered a new world, which I call a “lovely world of abilities” with endless possibilities.
As old habits die hard, slowly but surely, my use of phrases like “if only”, “I can’t”, & more started to transform into a form of a poetry or a prose. I think this one is suitable & worthy of a share, right here:
Life is an Individual Quest
Choose to Engage each moment with a Zest
Doing your Personal Best
to Enjoy & Experience while on this Universal Fest
so that you too can feel– Ah, indeed, “it’s All Lovely”! Lovely
